Types of Foot File

Pumice was the first type of foot file that we know mankind used. This is still in use today. It is probably the product used by the Egyptians and other early civilizations.
Pumice is formed during volcanic activity when gas filled lava escapes, as it flies through the air and cools the gas escapes and we are left with a light weight rock full of tiny holes.

Although it is an igneous rock it considered a glass as it has not crystalline structure   Powdered Punic is often used in commercial exfoliates and was often found in face scrubs as well as being used in cement!
Hippocrates designed a scalpel like foot file 400 years before the birth of Christ and perhaps this was the forerunner of foot files with handles – I have not come across a full description of it.
Today we have a plethora of choice ranging from pumice stones right through to ergonomically designed tools for professional use on different parts of the foot.
